There are countless auctions each year but The Winter Automobilia Online Auction is the one to look out for if you are a serious petrol head. There are thousands of stuff going on the block and among them includes automobile-related memorabilia, literature, and even vintage car parts like car emblems, radiator grilles, and headlights. Here are a few that I think are worthy of automobile enthusiasts’ attention.
1) Neil F Murray: On Aston Martin
From Palawan Press, this is a leatherbound signed limited edition published in 2005. The large-format title is bound in Morocco leather, numbered 25/100, and signed by the author to the title page. It packs 576 numbered pages and is well-illustrated.
It comes contained in a silver-colored Solander library box bearing a plaque inscribed with the books number 25. Expect some light marks on the box. The Neil F Murray: On Aston Martin is expected to fetch between a thousand to fifteen hundred English pounds.
2) 1957 Fiat 642 RN2 Bartoletti Ferrari Race Transporter 1:18 Scale Model
This is a hand-built model of the 1957 Fiat 642 RN2 Bartoletti Ferrari Race Transporter by CMC Models of Germany. Designated model number M-083, the model is 1/18 scale and constructed from over 3,000 metal parts. It is a super detailed model featuring opening doors, a detailed cabin, side doors, Rosso Corsa livery, and more.
The 50 cm transporter comes in its original carton box with styrene packing and is accompanied by Service Manual, information pamphlet, and card tag numbered ‘5567’. The 1957 Fiat 642 RN2 Bartoletti Ferrari Race Transporter 1:18 Scale Model is expected to fetch between 800-1,200 pounds.
3) 1960s Ferrari F161 ‘Shark-nose’ Pedal Car by MG
Kiddie ride of yesteryear that uses the good’ol pedal power. Based on the Ferrari F161 race car, the Ferrari F161 ‘Shark-nose’ Pedal Car by MG boasts a steel monocoque body, Rosso Corsa livery with the prancing horse logo, treadle pedals to cranked rear axle, painted blue steel panel seat, steering wheel, and replaced the plastic screen. Note: the latter was damaged.
The 112 cm long kiddie ride does exhibit some play wear. Bonhams estimated that the 1960s Ferrari F161 ‘Shark-nose’ Pedal Car by MG will be able to fetch between £500 and £700.
4) Signed Jenson Button BMW Williams Promo Racing Suit by Sparco
Before you go “Ewwww…”, no, this is not the racing coverall worn by former Formula 1 race car driver Jenson Button. It is a 2000 season replica race suit. Though we cannot guarantee to be so because, according to Lot’s description, the suit is “in seemingly unused condition.” I am taking it that the auctioneer also cannot be sure too.
Anywho, the suit is a BMW Williams promotional race suit by Sparco and signed by the man himself. The predominately white coverall is accented with dark blue trim. The driver’s name and National Flag can be found embroidered on the belt while sponsors’ logos, can be found around the suit. Comes with a Sparco red and blue vinyl carry bag. Bonhams estimated that the suit will be able to sell at 400-500 pounds.
5) 1961 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Passo Corto SWB 1:18 Scale Model
This is another 1:18 scale model from CMC. This time, it is based on the wonderful 1961 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Passo Corto SWB. Like the other 1:18 scale model we featured here, it is hand-built with a designated model number, M-054. The model features over 1,100 parts and features opening doors, a hood that reveals a detailed engine, and rolling wheels with rubber tires.
The 23 cm long scale model comes supplied with an information pamphlet, instruction sheet and card tag numbered ’1823’ and it comes packed inside its original carton box with styrene packing. Do note that there is a split on one of the seams of the box. The 1961 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Passo Corto SWB 1:18 Scale Model is expected to fetch £200-300.
6) 1927 Sunbeam 1,000 HP World Speed Record Car Scale Model
Ever wanted to own a world land speed record vehicle? Well, this is a chance but at a very much smaller scale. What you see here is a cast allow a promotional model of Sir Henry Segrave’s 1927 Sunbeam 1,000 HP World Speed Record Car. As you can see, this is a true vintage collectible with an obvious mark of age.
The red paintwork has a fair amount of rubbing and scratching. The Sunbeam lettering, or whatever is left of it, can be found under the front air intake. It comes with a driver and steering wheel (presently, detached) and features rolling wheels wrapped in ‘Dunlop’ tires. The tires are cracked and hardened due to age.
The model, which measures an impassive 70 cm long, was originally produced as a limited promotional model for Sunbeam dealers depicting the car driven to a world record 203.79 mph at Daytona Beach on March 19, 1927. The 7 Sunbeam 1,000 HP World Speed Record Car Scale is estimated to sell for 900-1,200 quids.
Bidding for the aforementioned items will commence on December 14, 2100 hours GMT in an online-only auction.
