The Transformers Timelines series has expanded again. After the industrial evolution series, Hearts of Steel, comes the Age of Samurai series. Now joining Samurai/Ox Optimus Prime and Samurai/Falcon Starscream are, you guessed it, Megatron and the Autobots’ beloved, oh-so-brash scout, Bumblebee.
In the Age of Samurai, Megatron and Bumblebee are reimagined with samurai-style deco and accessories, with the leader of the Decepticons taking the form of a destructive boar, while Bumblebee becomes a giant flying squirrel. Not going to lie. The concept is super cool.
Megatron is a 14 cm (5.5-inch) Deluxe Class figure. Bumblebee is also a Deluxe Class figure, albeit with a smaller stature at 12 cm (4.75-inch). But he is not a pure samurai, so to speak. His bot mode takes cues from both ninja and the feudal Japanese warrior.
Megatron, which converts between bot and alt mode in 24 steps, comes with an arm cannon that doubles as a kanabō club. Meanwhile, Bumblebee converts in 18 steps and is armed with a katana and kunai accessories.
