What’s a gold Godzilla without a worthy opponent to get its ass kicked? Following giving Godzilla-1.0 the gold treatment, the 1954 Gojira the gold treatment (and the latter also in silver), and more, U-Treasure is giving fans the chance to own a real gold Hedorah (a.k.a. the Smog Monster).
Celebrating the 55th anniversary of Godzilla vs. Hedorah (1971, Toho Co., Ltd.), U-Treasure has created a mini K18 yellow gold figure of the infamous alien that came to Earth to help itself to Japan’s buffet of industrial pollution and smog.
Despite its minuscule stature of a mere 1 cm (0.39 in.) tall, the skilled jewelry artisans have managed to capture the slime and dripping textures of Hedorah. The figure is not gold-plated, BTW. It is crafted from solid 18K yellow gold, making it perhaps the most “hideous” form this precious metal has ever taken.
Completing this luxe Godzilla collectible is a special sticker detailing the specifications and serial number, all presented in a wooden display case.
The Hedorah (1971) Mini Figure Gold Model (K18 Yellow Gold) is limited to just 100 pieces worldwide, with each commanding 93,500 yen (tax included) [JP] in Japan. That works out to about US$573, based on today’s exchange rate at the time of writing.
Orders for this miniature gold monster run from July 2 to August 3, 2026, or until all 100 units are spoken for. At the time of writing, it is still available from u-treasure.jp. I guess that’s good news. Even better news is that U-Treasure ships internationally. So, hurray, I guess?
