There are plain vanilla vinyl records. There are vinyl records that rock unique prints and are loaded with goodies. And then there is this: the Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 “Blood” Filled Vinyl Record that needs no playing back to appreciate. Created by custom vinyl extraordinaire Romanus Custom Vinyl MFG for Enjoy The Ride Records, the Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 “Blood” Filled Vinyl Record features actual red liquid to simulate blood within the transparent record.
So, yeah, the liquid resembling blood will go swishing and sloshing within. It’s a blood-curdling sight that is in line with the nature of the Mortal Kombat series. Because it has liquid in it, this record is not ordinary in thickness. It is double thickness and not suitable to be spun on a vertical turntable table.
Not that it matters because the Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 “Blood” Filled Vinyl Record, which was launched last month, is already sold out. But are we really surprised? Nope. I would want one too even though I am not a super fan of the video game and even it costs a cool US$159.99.
Each vinyl is handmade, btw, which is super cool. As for the soundtrack, it features compositions by Dan Forden who fans may remember from the game where he appeared in MKII that says “Toasty!”—in a perfect falsetto. The soundtrack is pressed at 45 RPM and comes in a 350gsm jacket with black poly-lined inner sleeves, housed in a poly sleeve. But I’ll say forget about the sleeves because this vinyl deserves to be out on a stand on its own.
