Unless you bought into the encryption feature and personal concierge of Vertu, wanting a “luxe” flip-folding screen phone does not require you to sell your kidneys. This is made possible thanks to Xiaomi (but, of course). The company is cashing in on the gifting opportunities presented by the upcoming Chinese Valentine’s Day (七夕节) with two unique Qixi colors of the MIX Flip 2: Cherry Red and Glacier White.
The highlight isn’t just the special colors. The real shining star here is a Cupid-cut lab-grown diamond embedded in the center frame for a touch of brilliance. Unfortunately, for those hoping for something more ostentatious, this isn’t it. It’s not encrusted in crystals nor loaded with diamonds; it’s just the one rock (that’s most definitely conflict-free since it is lab-grown). The Glacier White pairs crocodile-patterned leather with a silver nameplate, while the Cherry Red versions have the croc-patterned leather in red with a vintage gold nameplate.
The Xiaomi MIX Flip 2 Diamond Limited Edition comes with the full package, including a matching lychee-pattern storage bag, a screw-top phone case with a compatible diffuser and makeup mirror, plus two pearl chains in different lengths to complete the elegant, luxe look. Beyond the makeover, it’s the same MIX Flip 2 you already know: a 6.86-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED main display, a 4.01-inch outer display, Dragon Crystal Glass 2.0, a massive 5,165 mAh battery, Leica-tuned 50 MP cameras, and the Snapdragon 8 Elite under the hood.
The asking price for this touch of “luxe” is 6,999 yuan [CH] (about US$976). That’s 1,000 yuan more than the regular based model. It is only offered in a 12GB+512GB configuration.
