Bandai HG Gekiryujin Set to Drop Next April, Pre-Orders Now Open

Bandai King of the Braves GaoGaiGar HG Gekiryujin

Not every transforming robot that also sometimes combines comes from the Transformers franchise. The lesser-known, non-mainstream King of the Braves GaoGaiGar also has transforming robots that combine to form a larger combiner robot. The Gekiryujin is one such combiner bot. Now, Bandai is bringing this symmetrical-docking duo to life as an HG model kit, slated to drop next April stateside.

The kit, which is a non-scale assembly plastic model (a.k.a. gunpla), features both members of Gekiryujin: FuuRyuu and RaiRyuu. It comes with two replacement face parts, an electric gun, replacement hands, and more. When completed, FuuRyuu and RaiRyuu can convert between three forms. FuuRyuu is a green futuristic cement mixer and also the right half of Gekiryujin. Meanwhile, RaiRyuu is a futuristic dump truck and forms the left half of Gekiryujin.

The kit is a Bandai Premium exclusive. It is only offered online, and sometimes at events and other Bandai campaigns. The completed model is poseable both as individual bots and when docked. However, I believe the symmetrical docking to form Gekiryujin is by part-forming. I mean, are you even surprised? It is a model kit, after all.

FuuRyuu and RaiRyuu can also combine with the separately available ChouRyuujin to form GenRyuujin and GoRyuujin.

Anyhoo, the books for the HG Gekiryujin have opened and will close on March 16, 2026, at 2:59 AM EDT. The asking price is 86 USD from p-bandai.com [US].
