That’s right. What you see here is the Hot Wheels Collectors Elite 64 Series Mercedes-Benz 300 SL and it was sold out just as we are writing about it. Ugh. Sorry folks. We tried but we just can’t keep up with the ferocious appetite of collectors (or were they scalpers? Hmmm).
Anyhoo, while we may not be able to get our hands on one, no one stopping us from drooling over the images and the details. The Hot Wheels Collectors Elite 64 Series Mercedes-Benz 300 SL is the Hot Wheels’ second release of the new Elite 64 series that honors vintage racing and is a classy winner.
Back in 1955, the real-life Mercedes-Benz 300 SL bagged the first of its class at the Mille Miglia race in Italy. This 1/64 scale version is an homage to the car with no expense spare when it comes to the details featuring over 20 piece construction.
It features opening gullwing doors, commeorative “417” emblazoned on the exterior (hood, sides, and rear), authentic logos, Real Riders steelie wheels with gunmetal gray hubs, full-metal matte black chassis, clear windows, and a black interior with painted details and a roll cage (!).
The Hot Wheels Collectors Elite 64 Series Mercedes-Benz 300 SL was available to buy on Creations.mattel.com for US$20 a pop. Expect to find it on eBay many times at this price soon.
