Behold, The First-Ever LEGO Technic Formula 1 Model, The McLaren Formula 1 Race Car

LEGO 42141 Technic McLaren Formula 1 Race Car

The first LEGO Technic sets, which were mostly work vehicles, came out 45 years ago in 1977. Since then, we have seen Technic models getting more and more sophisticated but one of the most sophisticated machines in the world, the Formula 1 race car, has never been represented. Well, that’s until now.

Folks, meet the LEGO 42141 Technic McLaren Formula 1 Race Car, the first-ever LEGO Technic incarnation of an F1 car, and boy, it is an absolute beauty! Based on McLaren F1 Team’s 2022 F1 car, MCL36, which is rocking the familiar papaya livery as seen on the MCL35M race cars throughout the 2021 Formula 1 season.

As expected of a high-end LEGO Technic model, the LEGO 42141 Technic McLaren Formula 1 Race Car features a modeled V6 cylinder engine with moving pistons, steering activated from the cockpit, working suspension, and a differential lock. Completing the authentic look are sponsor stickers just like those you see on an actual F1 race car.

All told, it packs 1,432 pieces and measures over 25.5 inches long, 10.5 inches wide, and 5 inches tall (65 x 27 x 13 cm) when completed. Each set comes with detailed building instructions presented in a coffee-table-style format, which also explains the collaboration between McLaren Racing and the LEGO designers.

The LEGO 42141 Technic McLaren Formula 1 Race Car is targeted at adult fans of LEGO (AFOLs) 18 years and older. The set is really a LEGO Technic of significance because, you know, it is the first-ever F1 LEGO Technic set. We certainly hope to see more in the future.

The LEGO 42141 Technic McLaren Formula 1 Race Car is slated to drop on March 1, 2022, for US$179.99.
