Good news, my fellow chocolate lovers. The age-old dream of stepping inside Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, where rivers of cocoa flow and Oompa Loompas belt out cryptic moral lessons, is no longer a dream. You don’t need to hunt for a golden ticket or hoard Wonka Bars. All you need is US$219.99 and some shelf space for the LEGO Ideas Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, Classic Movie Set (21360).
This nostalgia-packed set is based on the 1971 classic film, and it delivers in all the right ways. Built from 2,025 pieces, it measures 19 cm tall, 52 cm wide, and 26 cm deep, making it a hefty display piece as well as a playful build. You get nine minifigures in the box: Willy Wonka himself, Charlie Bucket, Grandpa Joe, Augustus Gloop, Mike Teavee, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, and two Oompa Loompas. Naturally, Augustus even has an alternate chocolate-smeared face, because how could he not?
The set features a working chocolate waterfall you can crank into motion, candy cane trees, lollipop plants, and, of course, the Wonkatania boat ready to ferry the gang down the chocolate river. There’s even a recreation of Wonka’s eccentric office with its secret door.
