Masters of the Universe Official Teaser Trailer Drops Ahead of 2026 Release

Masters of the Universe Official Teaser Trailer

Well, you heard it is happening, and now, as the date draws close, Amazon MGM Studios has dropped the first Masters of the Universe Official Teaser Trailer—almost immediately after the studio shared a 30-second teaser. This one is the real deal, clocking in at 2 minutes and 24 seconds, which is very much a trailer and not something you casually skim. Spoiler haters are advised to stay away. You have been warned.

Directed by Travis Knight of Bumblebee fame, the film brings the Mattel icon back to the big screen with a glossy, high-fantasy sheen. Nicholas Galitzine steps into the role of Prince Adam and He-Man, while Jared Leto goes full skull-faced menace as Skeletor. Backing them up is a stacked cast that includes Idris Elba as Duncan, better known as Man-At-Arms, Camila Mendes as Teela, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, and Kristen Wiig lending her voice to Roboto.

Story-wise, the trailer sets things up clearly. After being separated from Eternia for 15 years, the Sword of Power pulls Adam back to a world now under Skeletor’s rule. To save his home, Adam teams up with Teela and Man-At-Arms and finally embraces his destiny as He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe. It is classic Masters of the Universe stakes, just rendered with modern blockbuster polish—well, almost.

The film is set for a theatrical release in the U.S. on June 5, 2026, with international distribution handled by Sony Pictures International Releasing.

As colorful as the movie appears to be, I am not thrilled. I would prefer that Amazon stay out of woke culture (HE/HIM, really???*), and I also prefer that He-Man stays out of Earth, and what’s up with the last name? I know. He is half-human, half-Eternian, but in the original cartoon series, He-Man never engages in battles on Earth, nor was he on Earth, like, ever. That is not to mention he has no family name.

Also, can I just say that I cannot help but feel the Marvel Thor vibe here? The cinematics feel very Thor, Eternia could be mistaken for Asgard, and it really does not help that Idris Elba, who played Heimdall in the Thor films, is now Man-At-Arms—also kind of like He-Man’s right-hand man, much like Heimdall was in live-action Thor films. Even the long bridge in Eternia feels suspiciously like the Bifröst. Correct me if I am wrong, but the influence, right down to the visuals and world design, feels a little too close to live-action Thor for comfort. There. I said it.

Here’s the said teaser trailer:

*I understand it could be a play at his character as He-Man.
