Meet The Classy Oppo Band That Blurs The Line Between A Fitness Tracker And A Smartwatch

Oppo Band Fitness Tracker

You probably have read about Oppo’s first smartband (read: fitness tracker or fitness band, if you will), simply called Oppo Band, from the Oppo x Evangelion collaboration. Now, meet the actual Oppo Band itself.

As it turns out, Oppo Band is a collaborative design effort between Hong Kong-based design studio, Ponti Design Studio, and Oppo’s design team.

There are actually two models: Oppo Band and Oppo Band Style. The EVA/Asuka-themed version was based on the latter.

Oppo Band has a more run-of-the-mill design, featuring a rubber strap that encases the device. Band is geared towards active lifestyle like for sports and outdoor activities.

Oppo Band Style, on the other hand, is more classy and elegant, and will not look out of place in any formal event.

Oppo Band Style sports a floating design where the device appears to be suspended inside a polished stainless steel ring which is in turn, attached an elegant rubber strap.

On the spec sheet, Oppo Band features a 1.1-inch 126 x 294 pixels AMOLED color touch display and it is powered by an Apollo 3 chip.

It further touts integrated SpO2 and optical sensors that are supposed to return blood oxygen saturation (albeit only when you are sleeping), as well as monitoring your sleep and heart rate.

Other notables include water resistant to 50 meters (5 ATM or 165 feet), 12 sport modes, over 160 watch faces, push notifications – including weather, music controls, NFC for contactless payments, and a rechargeable battery that offers up to 14 days on a single charge and recharges in an hour and a half.

Oppo Band and Oppo Band Style kind of blurs the line between fitness tracker and smartwatch. While it does have a design more akin to a fitness tracker, it function more like a smartwatch.

Oppo Band is available in China for 199 yuan and the Oppo Band Style, sells for 249 yuan. Those prices work out to be US$28 and US$35 which are extremely affordable, whether or not in US dollars or in Chinese yuan.
