Your holiday videos may show where you went, but Sony wants viewers to hear what it was like to stand there, too. The ECM-AX10 plugs into a compatible smartphone’s USB-C port and uses four omnidirectional microphone capsules to capture sound from all directions.
Sony calls it the world’s first Eclipsa Audio-certified smartphone microphone. You get Ambisonics, headphone-friendly binaural, and stereo recording modes, while its Spatial Audio Video Tool app handles shooting, editing, and exporting, including Eclipsa Audio for YouTube.
The microphone weighs just 24 grams (0.85 ounces) and requires iOS 18 or Android 14 and above. Pre-sale is open at US$249.99. Just remember: everything around you includes the person talking through your otherwise perfect shot.
