Sony WF-1000XM6 Promises Better Noise Canceling and Hi-Res Sound

Sony WF-1000XM6 Truly Wireless Earbuds

Sony is back with another swing at the premium true wireless crown with the new WF-1000XM6, the successor to the already well-regarded XM5. On paper, this is Sony doubling down on what it already does best: shutting the world out while making your playlist sound like it deserves a mastering credit.

At the heart of the WF-1000XM6 is Sony’s updated HD Noise Canceling Processor QN3e working alongside the Integrated Processor V2. Combined with eight microphones—four on each earbud—the new model promises up to 25 percent better noise cancellation compared to the previous generation, particularly against everyday distractions like chatter and traffic.

Audio hasn’t been left alone either. The XM6 gets upgraded 32-bit processing and support for Hi-Res Audio Wireless via LDAC, alongside Sony staples like DSEE Extreme and 360 Reality Audio compatibility. Call quality also sees improvements thanks to AI-assisted beamforming mics and a bone conduction sensor designed to better isolate your voice.

Battery life remains competitive at up to 8 hours on the earbuds and 24 hours with the case, which keeps it in flagship territory without pushing bulk.

As for pricing, the Sony WF-1000XM6 is expected to retail for around US$329.99 from Sony, Amazon, Best Buy, and other authorized dealers.

In related news, the WH-1000XM6, a.k.a. Sony’s acclaimed headphones, is now available in Sand Pink for US$459.99 from Sony, Amazon, Best Buy, and other authorized dealers.
