The critically acclaimed Sony WF-1000XM4 finally has a follow-up. The new Sony WF-1000XM5 Truly Wireless Earbuds want you to experience the best noise canceling while enjoying next-level immersion sound offered by rich, detailed audio “that brings your music to life”.
The new Sony WF-1000XM5 also boasts Sony’s best-ever call quality, thanks to advanced microphone technology featuring AI-based noise reduction based on Deep Neutral Network processing and bone conduction sensors that enables your voice to come through crystal clear and natural even in a noisy environment while wind noise reduction structure helps minimize wind noise when you are outdoors.
So what else has changed? Well, the earbuds are 25% smaller and 20% lighter than their predecessor, plus it is packaged with a set of ultra-small SS ear tips. Speaking of ear tips, the Noise Isolation Earbud Tips are made from an exclusive material (a unique polyurethane foam) that not only enhances the fit but it further boasts a newly designed shape that reduces pressure in the ear, thereby improving the wear comfort.
To achieve “best noise cancellation”, Sony employed 3 microphones on each earbud – including dual feedback mics which improve low-frequency cancellation performance – along with the newly developed Sony HD Noise Canceling Processor QN2e and Sony Integrated Processor V2. Sony said this results in about 20% improvement in noise canceling.
Audio reproduction is through specially designed 8.4 mm Dynamic Driver X that promised wide frequency reproduction, deep bass, and clear vocals that are richer and more detailed. Sony said the sound is so good that you’d feel like in the studio with the artists.
The earbuds further boast precision 24-bit audio processing and high-performance analog amplification that, together with its noise canceling tech, result in low distortion and crystal-clear audio reproduction.
As before, the new WF-1000XM5 also features LDAC that would allow you to enjoy High-Resolution Audio Wireless. Moreover, it benefits from DSEE Extreme that upscales compressed digital music in real-time.
Additionally, the earbuds feature 360 Reality Audio, which creates an immersive audio experience that transports you into the center of the music. It also comes equipped with head-tracking technology which ensures a realistic and compelling listening experience by automatically adjusting sound fields to compensate for your head movement.
A few other notables include Adaptive Sound Control, Speak-to-Chat, Multipoint Connect (support simultaneous pairing with two BT devices), supports Fast Pair and Swift Pair, support voice assistant, and up to 8 hours of battery life, and up to 24 hours of use with the charging case.
The earbuds feature quick charging that will yield an hour of use with just 3 minutes of charging. The charging case supports Qi wireless charging as well as wired via USB-C. Finally, the earbuds are IPX rated for splash and sweat resistance.
