Good news, collectors who thought the 2020 animatronic Baby Yoda was already peak Grogu engineering. But what do you know? It looks like that was just a warm-up. Enter the new Ultimate Grogu, a life-size animatronic version of everyone’s favorite Force-sensitive toddler.
Standing about 37 cm (14.6 in.) tall and packed with more than 250 animations, this Grogu moves his head, toddles forward, reacts to touch, and generally behaves like he just wandered off the set of The Mandalorian and Grogu. Add microphones, sensors, and multiple motors into the mix, and suddenly you are not posing Grogu anymore—Grogu is reacting to you. Which is either charming or slightly unsettling, depending on how long he keeps staring at you from across the room.
Hasbro even included interactive accessories like the grav-charge detonator, complete with lights and countdown effects that trigger unique responses from Grogu himself. It is the sort of feature that makes you realize this thing is not meant to sit quietly on a shelf. It wants attention. Possibly snacks.
Compared to the 2020 animatronic Baby Yoda—which already felt like Hasbro showing off—the new version looks like what the engineers wanted to build all along when nobody told them to stop. Same character, same irresistible face, just with far more personality packed inside.
If the earlier animatronic Grogu made fans feel like they brought home a companion, this one feels closer to adopting a tiny Force user. Just remember: once he starts toddling toward you, resistance is futile. The only captive words you will ever utter are “awwww… so cute!”—until he started to unleash his Force on you.
Oh, there was an Ultimate Grogu Collector’s Edition, too, which keeps the same life-size animatronic core but adds special packaging and an exclusive collector card for fans who prefer their Force-sensitive companions with a little ceremony. Both versions share the same screen-accurate design and animation system, so the difference is mostly about presentation rather than personality.
However, that was sold out at the time of this post. You can still pick up the Star Wars Ultimate Grogu Animatronic Figure for US$599.99. It is a pre-order that will be available to ship on approximately April 1, 2027. Yes. It is one hell of a wait.
