The Dramatic Capture Series was a new line launched to celebrate 40 years of Transformers. Since their reveal in 2023 and their subsequent launch in 2024, the premium diorama-style box sets that recreate iconic G1 scenes with enhanced paint accuracy have seen some classic moments played out. We did not feature any besides the maiden set, Nemesis Bridge. But now we have to, since the Dramatic Capture Series just broke the rule.
The latest set to join the series is Jetfire Combine [JP], and it is not a scene from G1. It is straight out of Bayverse, specifically from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009). The latest Dramatic Capture Series parts ways with G1 Transformers and embraces Michael Bay’s Transformers universe. This is the peak of milking the mold.
The set features two separately released toys: Studio Series 32 Optimus Prime, originally released in 2018, and Studio Series 35 Jetfire, first released in 2019. Both return here with premium paint finishes and are packaged together as a set.
Optimus Prime transforms into his familiar trailer truck form, while Jetfire transforms into the legendary SR-71 Blackbird supersonic jet—officially licensed by Lockheed Martin, no less. The real highlight is the combination mechanism. When merged, the two recreate the powered-up Optimus Prime seen in the final battle of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
Accessories included in the box help recreate the moment. Optimus comes with dual energy swords and his ion blaster, while Jetfire carries an axe and a staff.
The Transformers Dramatic Capture Series Jetfire Combine will be released in late August 2026 for 15,400 yen [JP], which is about US$98, based on the current going rate.
