What is a Super Ginrai without the God Bomber to make it God Ginrai, right? If you are a fan of the Transformers: Super-God Masterforce series (1988-1989), you know Ginrai has to be Super Ginrai to be worthy. Actually, no. It has to be God Ginrai to be a worthy opponent to the almighty Overlord. Well, that my friends, is where the Takara Tomy Transformers MPG-14 God Bomber [JP] transforming action figure comes in.
This is the second part of the God Ginrai project under the new Masterpiece-replacing MPG series. For the uninitiated, God Bomber is a spark-less drone that serves to power up Ginrai. Like in the cartoon series, God Bomber is a standalone robot that converts into, ermmm, a self-propelled armed trailer of sorts—complete with a cabin that fits three Headmaster Jr. figures.
Also like in the series, it “parts formed” and combined with the MPG-09 Super Jinrai to transform into the all-powerful God Ginrai. In robot mode, it is fully poseable, and in its armed trailer model, it can be towed by the alt modes of the MP-60 Ginrai or the MPG-09 Super Ginrai.
The figure is supplied with three Headmaster Jr. figures as well as a sword wielded by God Ginrai in the TV series Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers: Victory. Also included are effect parts that can be attached to God Bomber’s chest and wing nozzles, and by attaching them to the fists, you can also recreate the firing of the God Punch.
Finally, it comes with two dedicated adapters for connecting to a separately sold TF Power Base. The Transformers MPG-14 God Bomber is really for fans who have pre-ordered the MPG-09 Super Ginrai. Unfortunately, there isn’t going to be a box set for both but there is this: Takara Tomy Transformers MPG-14S God Bomber/God Ginrai Box Set [JP].
It is a special edition of the MPG-14 God Bomber that comes with the God Ginrai box which can store the separately sold MPG-09 Super Ginrai. But it is more than just boxes to satisfy the OCD in you to have two toys in one package. It also comes with special parts (head, chest, shoulders, cannon barrel, and rifle) that allow you to recreate the prototype version of God Bomber featured in the catalog from the anime’s original broadcast.
Additionally, it includes a special-colored TF Power Base (Base A, Base B, and arm) and a character card for God Ginrai. I’d say the MPG-14S Box Set is a must-have for serious fans.
The Transformers MPG-14 God Bomber and Transformers MPG-14S God Bomber/God Ginrai Box Set are expected to drop in late June 2025 for 27,500 yen [JP] (about 193 USD) and 31,900 yen [JP] (roughly 224 USD). Pre-orders for both toys are happening now across the world from popular online toy retailers.
