Good news, LEGO-loving, Transformers fans! LEGO has just added a new transforming, brick-built Transformers set. Joining the likes of LEGO Icons Optimus Prime and LEGO Icons Transformers: Bumblebee is one of the most loved villains from the original G1 cartoon series: Soundwave.
That’s right, my friends. There have been talks that this would happen, and it has gone official. I have no desire for Prime or Bee set, but for reasons unknown even to myself, I want one oh-so-very badly.
The new LEGO Icons Transformers Soundwave (10358) is everything fans could ask for in a brick-built Decepticon. It’s highly detailed, fully posable, and—yes—it actually transforms between robot and cassette player modes (!) without having to tear it apart. No pieces left on the table, no “remove arms to transform” nonsense. Just classic Soundwave energy with that signature stoic evil.
The set packs 1,505 pieces and includes not one, but two of Soundwave’s cassette minions: Ravage and Laserbeak. Both sidekicks transform into brick-built mini cassette tapes that slot neatly into Soundwave’s chest compartment—just like in the G1 cartoons. And the fun doesn’t stop there. Pressing the play button on Soundwave triggers voice and sound effects, making this the first LEGO Transformers set with actual audio.
Accessories include a rocket pod, laser blaster, and those signature darts, plus there’s a display plaque showing off his power stats for when you want to remind guests that your bookshelf has better taste in villains than they do.
When fully assembled, Soundwave stands over 33 cm (13 in.) tall, 23 cm (9 in.) wide, and 10 cm (4 in.) deep—just the right size to command your desk, shelf, or Decepticon shrine.
The LEGO Icons Transformers Soundwave (10358) set will be available for LEGO Insiders starting August 1, 2025, and for everyone else on August 4, for US$189.99.
And yes, I’m still wondering why I want it this badly. Probably the chest door. Or the sound effects. Or maybe it’s just the power of nostalgia whispering: “Soundwave superior.”
