I am sure you have heard rumors that the LEGO x Transformers collaboration is going to be joined by everyone’s favorite Bumblebee. Well, it has happened. Brick-built Optimus Prime will not be alone for long because LEGO Icons Transformers Bumblebee (10338) has been officially announced.
I think the set looks as G1 Bumblebee as the G1 Optimus Prime set in its robot form, though I cannot say the same for the vehicle model. And oh, yes, like the LEGO Optimus Prime, this newly announced 950-piece set can seamlessly convert from robot to vehicle mode and vice versa without the need for part-forming—which is an amazing LEGO design feat, IMHO.
In robot mode, brick-built G1 Bumblebee replicates the iconic 1980s robot action figure, boasting articulated joints, and comes with his iconic ion blaster and a jetpack. Unfortunately, though, the alt mode aka the vehicle mode is not super toon accurate, IMHO, but it does look pretty good as an automobile. Perhaps the nonresemblance is why the set does not get the official licensing from VW.
Anyhoo… rounding up the package is a requisite display plaque with Bee’s power statistics. When completed, the robot mode stands 25 cm (9.5 inches) tall, while in vehicle mode, it measures 8 cm (3 inches) high, 22 cm (8.5 inches) long, and 11 cm (4 inches) wide.
The LEGO Icons Transformers Bumblebee (10338) will drop on July 04, 2024, for US$89.99. LEGO Insider Early Access for this set will start on July 01 to July 03. Keep going for more photos and the official product video.
