Kids get bored with toys fairly quickly. That is an inevitable fact that LEGO prefer not to happen and hence, the LEGO AR Playgrounds iOS App. AR here is, of course, augmented reality. Leveraging on Apple’s ARKit technology to detect a real physical LEGO set, bringing it to life with special effects, animations, and interactive games. I foresee kids will get all ga-ga over this because, the entire thing will be played in a familiar place like the living or room while incorporating their very own LEGO set they own. I know I will for sure, except that I am not a huge fan of Ninjago.

LEGO AR Playgrounds iOS App

For now, there’s a slight caveat as LEGO AR Playgrounds iOS App will only work with two Ninjago sets, namely, LEGO 70654 Ninjago Dieselnaut and LEGO 70655 Dragon’s Pit. If you don’t have either set, you will not be left out in the cold because, you can still play the first five levels of the game as the app will still superimpose LEGO elements into your real world. As far as mixed realities go, this AR game also offers two-player co-op mode where you and a friend can play in the same AR space around physical LEGO sets and work together to defeat the Dragon Hunters, and share power-ups and 3D assets.

As you may have already noted, the LEGO AR Playgrounds uses Apple ARKit and therefore, it is available on Apple small devices like iPhone 6s or newer and iPad Pro running iOS 12.0 or later. It does not work on iPad mini, btw. Just so you know. Anywho, LEGO AR Playgrounds iOS App is available for Free on U.S. Apple App Store as we speak.
