If you thought LEGO was done turning Formula 1 safety equipment into display pieces, think again. Following the Ferrari F1 helmet sets, the brick company has now teamed up with McLaren Racing to celebrate a rather significant milestone: McLaren’s 1,000th Formula 1 Grand Prix.
To mark the occasion, LEGO has released two new LEGO Editions helmet sets based on the special-edition helmets worn by McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri at the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix. And unlike most LEGO sets inspired by real-world objects, these helmets completed a full circle. The LEGO models came first, and then inspired the real helmets worn on track.
The two helmets share the same 793-piece construction and overall shape, but each carries the personal colors and design touches of its respective driver, blended with McLaren’s commemorative 1,000th-race livery. Both sets also include a display stand with a printed signature plaque, along with something Formula 1 LEGO collectors have never had before: official minifigures of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
The collaboration was developed with input from the drivers themselves, resulting in two display pieces that sit somewhere between motorsport memorabilia and LEGO art. Whether you support Norris, Piastri, or simply enjoy seeing tiny plastic bricks masquerading as expensive racing equipment, there is plenty to appreciate here.
The timing is fitting too. Monaco is one of Formula 1’s most iconic races, and McLaren reaching its 1,000th Grand Prix is the kind of milestone that does not come around very often. Then again, neither does a racing helmet that exists as a LEGO set before becoming an actual racing helmet.
The LEGO Editions Lando Norris Helmet Set (43023) and LEGO Editions Oscar Piastri Helmet Set (43017) are available now. Each set includes 793 pieces and retails for US$89.99.
