McLaren F1 Tool Kit Has Gold Wrenches But Not Actual Gold

McLaren F1 Tool Kit RM Sotheby’s Auction

Rich car enthusiasts buy a supercar like the McLaren Elva. True petrolheads buy supercars and this: McLaren F1 Tool Kit. Granted, a rich person probably won’t need to get his or her dirty but damn, this toolset is just looking fabulous – thanks to the gold color appearance lend to it by the titanium nitride coating.

The tool kit was made exclusively for McLaren by the French company, FACOM, as a McLaren F1’s accessory stored under a small access panel set in between the car’s front headlights.

It comes with a small, classy, black leather tool roll handmade by Golf Brothers. The McLaren F1 Tool Kit is no ordinary toolset not just because of its gold appearance; it is made of titanium instead of the usual stainless steel.

The set is complete and includes a 1/4-inch drive breaker bar, 1/4-inch drive bit holder, five wrenches from 6 to 12 mm, vice Allen keys from 2.5 to 8 mm, a pair of pliers, two flat-head bits, and two Philips bits.

The McLaren F1 Tool Kit will be going under the hammer at the RM Sotheby’s Open Roads February auction, happening on February 16-23. It is offered without reserve and is expected to fetch between £4,000-£5,000 (approximately US$5,412-US$6,766).

While you are considering picking up the toolset, you may be interested to know that there is a McLaren F1 Wheel Nut Wrench going on the block in the same auction too.
