By the end of Stranger Things 3, I was half expecting it to wrap at 4. Nope. It did not. How? Well, maybe Vecna isn’t dead yet (of course, he isn’t), and/or the threat of The Upside Down persists. Damn, those pesky demon dogs and flower-head creatures!
But if you ask me, Stranger Things 3 was already borderline a stretch, and Stranger Things 4 just pushed it way past its appeal. Anyhoo, Stranger Things 5 is coming, and the good news for some of us is that we’ll finally be getting an ending. I mean… isn’t closure what any show is about, right?
Here’s what to expect (or not?):
“The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.”
Netflix has just dropped the teaser trailer for Stranger Things 5 for those who want a sneak peek at what’s coming. All I can say is that it feels like it’s going to be a lot darker and more emotional this time around. Hopefully, we get a satisfying conclusion. This is 2025. We are in no mood for cliffhangers.
It’ll be an epic sendoff rolled out in three volumes. Volume 1, which includes episodes 1–4, will start streaming on November 16, 2025. Volume 2, containing episodes 5–7, begins on Christmas Day 2025, and the finale — a.k.a. episode 8 — drops on New Year’s Eve.
Meanwhile, here’s the said teaser trailer.
