Sports car and SUV are no longer awkward appearing in the same sentence, thanks to the Lamborghini Urus. But “GT” and a Land Rover? Well, that will take a bit of getting used to. You heard that right: a GT in the Land Rover stable.
So which model has the honor of wearing the “GT” name? Well, that would be the Range Rover GT. Range Rover, the sub-brand of Land Rover that has taken on a life of its own, has teased the all-new GT as the fifth member of the family. It is expected to launch in 2027.
Now that it wears the GT badge, let’s not call it an SUV. It would be an insult to the prestigious Grand Tourer namesake. The GT introduces a sleek, low-slung silhouette with grand touring proportions while maintaining hallmark Range Rover design cues. It will ride on JLR’s new Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA) platform and launch initially as a battery-electric vehicle, with hybrid variants planned later in its lifecycle.
Range Rover also offered a first look inside the cabin, which it describes as a sanctuary of calm. The minimalist interior replaces the traditional instrument cluster with a slim driver display paired with a new single-screen layout. Hidden air vents stretch across the dashboard, while a woven textile fascia cleverly conceals the speakers, helping create a clean, uncluttered look. Range Rover claims the GT will also offer class-leading second-row legroom, proving that this grand tourer wasn’t designed solely for the driver.
Prototype vehicles are currently undergoing final validation testing wrapped in a rather striking camouflage inspired by the topographical landscape around Gaydon, home to Range Rover’s creative and engineering teams. The flowing gold contour pattern is said to symbolize the grand touring journey, while its digital-inspired graphics hint at what Range Rover boldly calls its most technologically sophisticated vehicle ever.
