Maybe I am not all into all things colored, but when the maestro of coloring gadgets posted a tweet of a Formula Red and Steel version of Nintendo’s latest game console, Switch, I am immediately sold. Indeed, as far as images go, steel color and red does look decidedly cool. No. In fact, it is beyond cool. It is ridiculously stylish, but of course, red and steel combo may not be everyone’s cuppa and that’s really not a problem if you just want to get away from the predominantly black unit. I mean, it is ColorWare that we are talking about and therefore, myriad of color options is at your disposal if you are willing to drop the right amount of money for it.
Obviously, it is not going to be cheap. After all, your favorite gadget will be coated to the colors of your fancy which will take quite bit of expertise only a few can pull off. Speaking of which, the price may vary depending on the extend of color customization, choice of colors et cetera, but for the above example, you are looking at a spanking new Nintendo Switch with an asking price of $499. That’s about 100-200 dollars premium over the MSRP. I won’t say it is worth it or not. It all comes down to personal preference and so, we will let you be the judge. As a side note, I am a fancy person, I probably wouldn’t mind IF I have the disposal income.
Anyways, on another related news that you won’t have spend money on (you can’t anyways because it is already sold out)… back in June, ColorWare introduced a special edition custom colored Nintendo Joy Con controllers that pays homage to the classic NES console. With the ColorWare Joy Con Classic, as it is called, it took on the classic grey and matte black hue, and it even replicate the original’s D-pad – in red, complete a square gray base. Wrapping up the classic-look are the requisite red letterings that say “SELECT” and “START,” one on each controller. Damn you ColorWare for making me feel super duper nostalgic!
Unfortunately, as mentioned earlier, you can’t part with your hard-earned money for it even if you want to because only 25 sets were offered and all of which have been snapped up. In case you are wondering, the Joy Con classic was selling for $199 a set.
