Paragon FX Brings the Original Tron Helmet Back From the Grid

Tron Helmet Prop Replica by Paragon FX Group

Tron fans, this one is straight-up eye candy. Paragon FX Group has teamed up with The Walt Disney Archives to recreate the original Tron helmet, and they did it the proper way—by digitally scanning the actual 1982 prop. So what you’re getting here isn’t “close enough”; it is the real deal recreated down to its last glowing groove. Lightcycle, optional.

The film may be over four decades old, but this replica brings back that unmistakable early-CG aesthetic that made Tron look like nothing else in theaters. The joke in Hollywood back then was that computers were “cheating,” which is wild considering the amount of work it took to make those glowing lines happen. Now, all the glow is handled neatly with modern tech, complete with a hidden touch-switch at the back so you can light it up without ruining its silhouette.

Only 300 units exist, and each helmet keeps the proportions of the original: 22 cm tall (8.66″), 22 cm wide (8.74″), and 28 cm deep (11.1″) without the stand. It is one of those pieces that sits somewhere between “museum material” and “I can’t believe this is in my house.”

Unfortunately, it appears to be sold out. The listing has vanished from Paragon’s own website, but Sideshow still has the info if you want to admire it from afar. It retailed for US$805 or thereabout; we cannot be sure since the listing on Paragon is no longer there. All we got is Sideshow’s pricing. Well, at least this one will see the light of production, unlike the Collectors Set.
