Xiaomi’s First Pure Android Phone, The Mi A1, Is Certainly Not A Budget Phone

Now that Google Nexus is officially dead and Android One has mysteriously gone quite for a while now, your only hope for pure Android experience, i.e. Android without bloatware, would be Google-sanctioned devices such as the Pixel line is your only hope. That said, unlike Android One or even the Nexus line, pure Android experience is not for the budget-conscious. Right now, Pixel is premium and alternatives like OnePlus, Motorola and more recently the Essential Phone, which are the closest you can get to pure Android experience, aren’t cheap as well. LG V30 Smartphone Unveiled, Packs A Boatload Of “Industry Innovations”

I said it before and I will say it again. I never understand the need for handset makers to have more than one flagship. I mean, seriously, it is basically cannibalizing its own market in the name of market share. I guess manufacturers just can’t help it, thanks to a thing called competition-pressure. LG is one such handset makers that caved into the pressure and the new V30 announced at the IFA is the company’s the other flagship that should make you torn in deciding to wait for the next G series or go for the V. I guess it is a good news for fans of the V series. Continue reading LG V30 Smartphone Unveiled, Packs A Boatload Of “Industry Innovations”

Cat’s New Smartphone Packs 5,000 mAh Battery, Can Serve As A Power Bank Too

Packing a beautiful smartphone with layers after layers of protection seems counter-intuitive in aesthetic point of view and it most definitely defeats the designers’ intention. I don’t know about you, but me think it feels like listening to high-resolution audio files with a muffed earphones or a mono-driver speaker system. Completely pointless. And the same goes to battery life. It is equally pointless to have a device that does it all and not have the battery life to support for all-day use. That is why there’s Cat Phones and that is why now there’s the Cat S41 Smartphone. Continue reading Cat’s New Smartphone Packs 5,000 mAh Battery, Can Serve As A Power Bank Too

Whether or not if you have put Samsung Galaxy Note 7 fiasco behind you, Samsung is ready to show a spanking new follow up, the Samsung Galaxy Note8 with emphasis on safety, of course. Lets dispense with the marketing mambo jambo and jump straight into what it has to offer. First and foremost, Note8 has the largest touch display on a Note device yet, coming in at 6.3-inch and flaunting a Quad HD+ Super AMOLED with 2,960 x 1,440 resolution that packs 521 api. Imho, what you are looking at is essentially a S8+ that boasts S Pen feature. I mean, just look at it. Aesthetically, it is virtually indistinguishable from the S8+ to untrained eyes. Sharp Aquos S2 Looks Like A Cross Between Essential Phone And iPhone 8

When it comes to crazy screen-to-body ratio and “bezel-less” smartphone, Sharp is no doubt the forerunner while others are merely just catching up. That being said, up to this point and after several devices that tout bezel-less design, Sharp has proven itself to be the purveyor of innovations. The company seems to hell-bent in getting rid of as much bezel as possible, even to the extend of relocating the front-facing camera to the bottom of the device, but the Sharp Aquos S2 Android phone unveiled last week in Beijing, China, come as a surprise to some. Surprised in confusing way. It has a bezel-less design, alright, but at the same time, one can’t help but to wonder where one has seen similar design before. Ahhh… that’s right, Andy Rubin’s Essential Phone! Continue reading Sharp Aquos S2 Looks Like A Cross Between Essential Phone And iPhone 8

LG Unveiled Q8 Smartphone, Touts It As A “Multimedia Powerhouse”

It looks like Huawei is feeling the pinch of selling low-budget devices. According to a report, the Chinese telecommunication equipment maker is revamping the strategy to go “high-end” only, just like the fruity company have been doing all these while. However, not every major handset maker is feeling the heat yet and LG is certainly one of them not feeling the heat. Granted, they do not have as many handset models as Samsung, they are still pretty relentless in trying to fill the perceived segment void. The LG Q8 announced early this week is one good example. Leaked Nokia 8 Images Suggest Zeiss Optics And Copper-like Casing

HMD Global, the Finnish company that bought part of the rights to design and market Nokia phones from Microsoft, has been quite about the company first-ever flagship device, Nokia 8, but this being the Internet, words tend to get around pretty fast and so, here it is, the so-called first look of the Nokia 8 (more like leaks, really). Also, and naturally, it will be an Android device which will run on Android 7.0 and as the images suggests, it will be touting a dual-lens setup from Zeiss optics. Zeiss optics should not come as a surprise since earlier this month, HMD Global and Zeiss did announced to put the optic maker’s ware on Nokia phones moving forward.
