Essential Phone Actually Owns The Patent For Pop-up Selfie Camera

As the world eagerly anticipates the arrival of Vivo’s futuristic smartphone sometime in the middle of this year, Vivo is probably working hard to iron out any kink, control the production cost, and also talking to Essential Phone. Why? Well, as it turns out, Essential Phone had mooted the idea of pop-up selfie camera on its near-bezel-less Essential Phone. Obviously, Andy Rubin’s startup handset maker did not implemented it, but it did filed and secured a patent in 2015 for it. Doh! Vivo Joins The Disturbing Notch Trend With X21, Y85 and V9 Smartphones

Like it or not, Apple is really the trendsetter in phone design. Whether or not are those designs desirable or not , is an entirely different story. Case in point: the AirPods and more recently, the infamous notch on the Apple iPhone X. When Essential Phone came with the notch, it did not draw as much attention because, it was rather subtle, really, but when Apple did, it became the talk of the town. Talks ranging from praises to disgusts. Notwithstanding the controversy of cutting into the display real estate in an awkward manner, several companies have follow suit since. Vivo Apex: Pop-up Camera, Vibrating Display And “Half-Display Fingerprint Scanner” Is Coming This Year

Somehow it feels like Apple is taking a backseat in innovations, or maybe it was just the case of other handset makers shaking itself up to, you know, up the ante of phone designs. Vivo is one such handset makers who have been somewhat “with the crowd” for most part of the years it has been in existence. However, the Chinese handset maker shook the smartphone world earlier this year by being the first to offer a smartphone with under display fingerprint scanner. You would think these guys will chillax after having becoming the pioneer, right? Nope. HTC U11+ Is The Larger U11 You Probably Never Heard Before

By now, you are probably familiar with HTC U11 and the U11 Life, but unbeknownst to some, HTC U11 has another model, the U11+. Introduced late last year, the U11+ is the largest of the now-three-model U11 line-up. Although it is supposed to be available internationally late 2017, we don’t find it anywhere on U.S. website and so we thought we give it a mention here today. A quick one, though. Highlight is no change from the U11; it is the HTC Edge Sense where squeezing the phone will enable access to any app, take photos and more. Oh, Look, LG’s Into The Notch Too As Shown By This Purported LG G7 Device

If there were to have a UFO hovering above a populous city, you imagine there would have more than a handful of people who have witnessed it. If you apply the same logic to a device that made a show at the recently concluded Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, then more than just a media company would have seen the purported concept LG G7 device code named ‘Neo’, right? Nope. When we first came across the news last week, I was skeptical about its legitimacy. Then, I began digging around for more info, but as it turned out, every article that I have read regarding this purported device was from the same source: Ynet, an Israel tech blog.
