Tomica Bus Digital Height Meter

Hashy and Takara Tomy have teamed up once again, and this time the collaboration is measuring up—literally. Meet the Tomica Bus Digital Height Meter, a wall-friendly gadget shaped like a Tomica bus that lets parents measure their kids without marking up the door frame like a prison tally.

The process is delightfully simple. Place junior against a wall, line the bus up with their head, press the button, and three seconds later it goes “beep beep” and spits out their height down to 0.1 cm. No pencils, no rulers, no arguments about whether messy hair adds an extra inch. Even better, it doubles as a fun ritual, letting parents and kids track growth together with their favorite die-cast toy brand cheering from the sidelines.

Tomica, as you may know, has been cranking out tiny cars since 1970, selling over 10 billion units worldwide. Now, instead of ramming them into your skirting boards, kids can stand tall while a Tomica bus officially confirms whether they’re ready to graduate from the kiddie rides at the mall.

The Tomica Bus Digital Height Meter runs on three AAA batteries (sold separately) and is available now for around 3,850 yen [JP] (about US$25).
