Folks, meet the new custom iPhone 17 Pro Max featuring a fully black chassis from the veteran of luxe gadgets, Caviar. Not only would you be getting a colorway Apple did not have, but this new series also addresses one major drawback of the iPhone 17 Pro series.
The return of the black chassis signals that black may very well be the, well, new black. Expect each phone to rock an anodized finish, a deep black matte surface that is highly resistant to scratches. Caviar says it uses Apple-grade technology, yes, apparently it is a thing now, specifically the same anodization process found on the MacBook Pro in Space Black, to achieve this finish.
Giving the luxe black treatment is just the start. Caviar is offering not one, not two, but three brand-new designs. The models include Shadow, Spark, and Black Is Back. Moreover, Caviar has updated its best-selling models, including the Obsidian, to the Black Edition format. This is not a simple recolor, by the way. Caviar created an entirely new iPhone body and then applied its unique coloring technology to achieve a truly deep black finish. It even claims the coating matches the quality of Apple’s renowned Black Titanium, released a year earlier.
Caviar also addresses what it sees as the other major drawback of the iPhone 17 Pro: its aluminum body. The Caviar iPhone 17 Pro Max Black Edition combines a black body with blackened Grade 2 titanium, a material commonly used in the aerospace and automotive industries. The result is exceptional corrosion resistance and outstanding strength.
That said, vegans and animal rights activists may want to look elsewhere, as this device contains genuine alligator leather. The body elements are inlaid with inserts crafted from the most valuable parts of the hide. If that does not scream you, you will be glad to know that Caviar accepts bespoke orders for the Black Edition. You can design from scratch using Caviar’s signature fully black chassis, choosing materials, textures, decorative elements, engravings, and more. If that sounds excessive, individual customization of any existing Black Edition model is also available.
