Here’s a heads-up for die-cast collectors. Tomica is releasing two new Toyota GR sports cars in 1:64-ish scale. There is the Tomica Premium Racing GR GT3 and the Tomica GR GT.

For those not in the know, regular Tomica models are die-cast toy vehicles for kids, with less detail and often generic wheels. TBH, I find them quite decent given the price, despite being kids’ toys. The real star here is Tomica Premium Racing, which is a series aimed at adult collectors. It has a lot more detail—even the paintwork shows. It is an accurate reproduction of the original car designs in miniature proportions, sometimes complete with sponsor logos.
There are hardly any details to go with, except for some product images. Clearly, the Premium has a lot of details going with it, and opening doors. If memories serve, I recall that regular Tomica used to have opening doors, some even have opening hood and trunk. I could be wrong.
The Tomica Premium Racing GR GT3 and the Tomica GR GT [JP] are set to release on June 20, 2026, for 1,980 yen (about US$12.64) and 880 yen (about US$5.62), respectively, in Japan, tax included.
The Premium Racing model is recommended for kids 6 and up, while the regular Tomica is suitable for kids 3 and up.
