Hiroshi Fujiwara knows how to play the long game. The Fragment Design founder has been listening to Bang & Olufsen since the 1990s and once designed his home around the brand’s Master Link system so the cables could disappear into the walls. Some 35 years later, B&O has handed him four of its audio icons and permission to make them blacker than a power outage.
The Bang & Olufsen x Fragment Design collection covers the Beosound A1 3rd Gen portable speaker, the Beoplay H100 headphones, the wall-mounted Beosound Shape, and the Beosystem 9000c. Each receives a glossy liquid-black aluminum finish created through specialized anodizing and hand polishing, along with Fragment’s white double-lightning logo. Subtle, unless you know exactly what those two bolts mean.
The A1 is the affordable one, relatively speaking, at US$475. The H100 has an asking price of US$2,400, while the seven-tile, flower-shaped Beosound Shape commands a hefty US$7,100. The latter is not a fixed-shape product. It is a customizable product in terms of shape and colors, and hence there is no direct link to the collaborative model.
Then there is the boss-level purchase: a Japan-exclusive, made-to-order Beosystem 9000c paired with Beolab 28 speakers. The six-disc CD system and speakers receive the same blacked-out treatment for US$69,650. Yes, compact discs now have the financial confidence of a luxury car.
The A1, H100, and Shape launched globally on June 3, 2026, while the Beosystem 9000c remains Japan-only [JP].
