Seiko definitely has no business in skateboarding or skateboarding culture. And yet, here it is again. On February 19, Seiko rolled out its third Seiko 5 Sports HUF Collaboration Limited Edition Model, proving this is no accidental kickflip into streetwear.
For its third team-up with California lifestyle brand HUF, Seiko reached back into its 1970s archive and pulled inspiration from the cult-favorite “Time Sonar.” HUF then gave it a proper street remix.
The result is reference SBSA323 [JP], built on the Seiko 5 Sports Field series case. The semi-transparent dial is finished in unmistakable HUF Green, the same shade personally chosen by founder Keith Hufnagel when the brand started. The “huf” logo sits at 6 o’clock, subtle but confident. Flip the watch over, and the see-through caseback continues the green theme, complete with a line-art city pattern inspired by San Francisco and “LIMITED EDITION” plus a serial number engraved.
Even the crown tip carries the HUF logo. This is not a half-hearted logo slap.
Specs keep things solidly Seiko. The stainless steel case measures 39.4 mm in diameter and 11.6 mm thick, with Hardlex crystal and 10 bar water resistance. Inside ticks the automatic Caliber 4R36 with hand-winding, 24 jewels, 41 hours of power reserve, and a beat rate of 21,600 vibrations per hour. Accuracy is rated at +45 to –35 seconds per day.
Each piece comes in a stainless steel special box printed with “make the most of your time,” along with an original HUF watch cloth.
Limited to 7,000 pieces worldwide, with 1,000 for Japan, the Seiko 5 Sports HUF Collaboration Limited Edition goes on sale March 6. Price is 56,100 yen [JP] (~358 USD) including tax.
