You may think an established audiophile company like Sonos would have gotten into audiophile headphones a long time ago but it hasn’t—until now. That’s right my friends. Sonos, the American audio equipment company best known for its soundbars and collaborations with IKEA, has finally added a pair of headphones to its portfolio.
Dubbed the Sonos Ace, it is a pair of premium over-the-ear Bluetooth headphones that promise to deliver breathtaking lossless and spatial audio, world-class Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and Aware Mode, and Sonos’ bread-and-butter, precise and immersive home theater experience through Sonos’ new TrueCinema technology. This pair of long overdued high-end cans from Sonos is crafted from lightweight, premium materials that offer an airy fit.
Key features include two custom-designed drivers, spatial audio with Dolby Atmos, dynamic head tracking, Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) with Aware mode, up to 30 hours of runtime on a single charge, 3 hours of battery with quick 3-minute charge, pillowy soft memory foam interior is wrapped in vegan leather, custom headband and ear cups with concealed hinged for perfect acoustic seal, a fold-flat design for easy transportation, and finally, it boasts instant swap TV audio from a compatible Sonos soundbar at a tap of button.
It is worth noting that the aforementioned all-new TrueCinema technology will only arrive later this year through a software update. Unlike other high-end audio cans, Sonos Ace is built to last. It is rocking replaceable ear cushions, circular materials that allow us to use 17% less virgin plastic and a 75% recycled felt travel case made from plastic bottles. Plus, it is engineered to drive energy efficiency, through features like wear detection that pauses the music when you remove the cans from your ears.
