2025 Ford Maverick Lobo Performance Pickup Truck

The new Ford Maverick did catch our eyes but not as much as the Ford Maverick Lobo. I mean, we were supposed to talk about the Maverick, which is a beautiful workhorse, btw. I sat on it for too long. Then along came Lobo and we had a change of heart. The Lobo had me at hello.

The 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo is the latest in Ford’s performance-driven lineup, bringing the energy of the street truck era into the modern age. This truck isn’t just any ol’truck or just any vehicle for that matter; it’s a canvas for customization, designed to appeal to those who live for the thrill of driving and the art of personalization.

Born from the vision of Maverick designer Josh Blundo, who saw the potential in the Maverick’s lines back in 2019, the Lobo is a testament to creativity and engineering prowess. Blundo’s vision, originally showcased in a 2021 build by Tucci Hot Rods, has now come to life as the Maverick Lobo, blending style, performance, and the spirit of the streets.

Under the hood, the Maverick Lobo is all about performance. It features a 2.0L EcoBoost engine, finely tuned for on-road excitement, and backed by Ford’s Built Tough standards. The suspension has been lowered and optimized, with a half-inch drop in the front and a 1.12-inch drop in the rear, giving the Lobo a stance that’s ready for action. The truck also boasts performance-tuned steering and enhanced brakes, with dual-piston front calipers borrowed from the European Ford Focus ST, ensuring it handles more like a performance car than a pickup.

One of the standout features of the Maverick Lobo is its exclusive drive mode, aptly named “Lobo Mode.” This mode, inspired by drifting and autocross, enhances cornering performance and grip by minimizing understeer and engaging torque vectoring through a twin-clutch rear drive unit from the Bronco Sport. This mode transforms the Maverick Lobo into a beast on closed courses, making it perfect for those who crave precision and control.

To match its aggressive performance, the Lobo also flaunts a bold design. The truck’s exterior includes a unique front fascia, rocker moldings, and a painted rear bumper, all contrasting with a black-painted roof and striking 19-inch black wheels. The interior is just as eye-catching, with Grabber Blue and Electric Lime accent stitching, graffiti-inspired seat overprints, and the Lobo name embossed on the seats, creating a vibe that’s as edgy as it is stylish.

The Lobo comes in two configurations: standard and high. The standard setup offers all the performance goodies. At the same time, the high configuration adds a touch of luxury with features like a heated steering wheel and seats, Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0 driver-assist technologies, a 360-degree camera, and more. Plus, for those who tow, Pro Trailer Hitch Assist and Pro Trailer Backup Assist will be available in early 2025, making trailer management a breeze.

Ordering for the 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo (US$36,595 and up) has already started, with deliveries beginning in early 2025, starting at US$36,595.
