Keychron G6 HE MagOptic Gaming Mouse
Choosing between optical and Hall Effect switches may soon be unnecessary, as the Keychron G6 HE combines both technologies in a lightweight gaming mouse with adjustable actuation, 8K polling, and a battery that can be swapped mid-game.

Whether it is a keyboard or mouse, there are two camps when it comes to switches. You are either a traditional optical person or one who swears by magnetic (Hall Effect) switches. If you are an in-betweener, you are made to choose. But that need not be the case. Well, at least not for a gaming mouse, anyway, thanks to the Keychron G6 HE.

Keychron G6 HE MagOptic Gaming Mouse

Billed as the world’s first MagOptic gaming mouse, it boasts a proprietary hybrid micro-switch technology developed by Keychron for gaming mice called, well, MagOptic. It takes away the cruelty of choosing between traditional optical and magnetic switches by combining both into a dual-mode mechanism that users can freely toggle via the web-based Keychron Launcher.

As far as Windows is concerned, not needing to install yet another app is always welcome news. The downside is that you have to be connected to the web. Then again, who isn’t these days, right? In any case, once you load the web app, those settings get burned straight into the mouse’s brain via WebHID—so you can go live off-grid in a cave and your custom settings will still work. Again, not that you, or any gamer in the world, will be living life, gaming or not, without an internet connection.

The mouse offers players adjustable actuation, Rapid Trigger control, and a crisp physical click feel. The freedom to choose does not stop there. You can even choose the weight. We are talking about multiple weight options out of the box.

The swappable-battery version can be as light as 39 g when used in wired mode with the battery removed. For wireless play, it is also just about 46 g with the battery. Then there are optional weight blocks that let you fine-tune the heft, so you can customize how planted you want the mouse to feel. Finally, there is a built-in-battery version that tips the scales at 42 g.

But if you are a person who often spends an unhealthy amount of time gaming, the swappable-battery version is the go-to mouse. It is engineered for players who do not want charging to interrupt the match. When the juice is low, you can swap in a fresh battery in about three seconds and continue playing. Meanwhile, the Turbo-Link 8K receiver keeps the spare battery charging on your desk, ready when it is needed.

Ergonomically, the Keychron G6 HE uses a 123 mm-class symmetrical shape designed primarily for palm and claw grips. It has a fuller rear profile to support the palm, while the tapered waist provides your fingers with more control for quick lifts, repositioning, and stable aim. Rounding out the design is a premium coating featuring an Excimer-cured non-slip grip.

Under the hood, the G6 HE benefits from a flagship Nordic 54LM20A competitive MCU, a PAW3955 sensor that boasts flagship 40,000 DPI tracking, and up to 248 hours of battery life when used in standard Bluetooth/1K polling modes.

Connectivity shines with dual 8K polling at 8,000 Hz over both 2.4 GHz wireless and, of course, wired connections. The former promises ultra-low wireless click latency of 0.301 ms.
