Mac Studio, Apple’s pride and joy in a very small package, is now the first to offer the newly launched M3 Ultra silicon. But if the mere mention of “M3” conjures a “so last season” vibe—Ultra or not—then perhaps you’d be more interested in the Mac Studio with M4 Max. Apple is now giving Mac Studio power users an impossible choice: do you want an M3 chip on steroids or a taste of the M4 era?

Mac Studio with M4 Max
The M4 Max is all about speed, power, and making Intel users question their life choices. It comes with a CPU with up to 16 cores, up to 40-core GPU, and a Neural Engine that’s over three times faster than the M1 Max. Video editors, developers, and creative pros will appreciate up to 128GB of unified memory, enough to keep a dozen Chrome tabs open without panic. And with Apple’s fancy new graphics architecture, it can handle real-time effects, massive 3D renders, and probably time travel (Apple hasn’t confirmed this, but we’re hopeful).
Mac Studio with M3 Ultra
For those who think “maxed out” isn’t enough, the M3 Ultra is here to deliver. With an up to 32-core CPU, 80-core GPU, and up to 512GB of unified memory, it’s built for serious AI work, 8K video editing, and whatever wild projects you’re cooking up. Compared to the M1 Ultra, it’s up to 2.6 times faster—so yes, that Final Cut Pro render might actually finish before your coffee gets cold.
Both models now come with Thunderbolt 5, up to 16TB of SSD storage, and enough power to make even the Mac Pro feel a little insecure. Prices start at US$1,999, with availability from March 12.
