If you’ve avoided heated blankets because they look like something from a hospital bed, Groenland Sustainable Living has news for you. The Amsterdam-based company has reimagined warmth with the BOHEM Heated Sofa Blanket—a cozy, Bohemian-style throw that wouldn’t look out of place in a chic design catalog. I know it does not look like it, but yes, it is heated.

Unlike battery-powered blankets that take forever to warm up, BOHEM uses reliable copper coil technology to heat evenly across its 180 × 130 cm (5.9 × 4.2 feet) surface. It’s big enough to share, assuming you’re feeling generous. The built-in safety features include an automatic shut-off and overheating protection, making it as practical as it is stylish.
The blanket ditches the usual shiny fleece for knitted acrylic yarn, which looks good and is machine-washable—just unplug the controller, toss it in at 30°C (86°F), and air dry. Speaking of controller, it may be a modern, hand-size piece of hardware—in soft taupe colour, but it is designed to match the Bohemian style blanket but the coolest part, IMHO, is how Groenland has a natural linen cord that conveys the warm design in a way we never imagine it is possible. Not going to lie. I am impressed by this small design detail.
The BOHEM is available in Red Earth or White Clay, and for a limited time, backers can grab one for €79 (about US$86), a 34% discount off retail. While Groenland Sustainable Living has successfully funded the campaign, unexpected delays or even non-delivery are risks to keep in mind. That said, if all goes according to plan, this will change how you perceive a heated blanket.
