RC vehicles offer us an opportunity to operate machines we cannot realistically own or lack the license to drive or fly. This includes jumping from an aircraft as a skydiver. But a go-kart? Almost anyone could have a go, so an RC kart feels like a strange choice. Yet here we are with the Capelli K6 1:6 EP Competition Kart Chassis Kit, which delivers the thrill of karting from the comfort of your field chair.
Inspired by modern KZ racing karts, the K6 uses a lightweight, two-piece forged carbon chassis built around a central pivot and tunable pitch damper. Its front end permits adjustments to camber, caster, roll center, ride height, toe, and Ackermann, while an adjustable ball differential lets racers fine-tune rear traction.
Oh, the foam driver? It is not there merely to prevent the K6 from looking like a ghost-driven go-kart, nor is it there to accept responsibility for your crashes. It conceals the integrated radio box, lifts to provide access to the battery, and even serves as the actuator for the pitch-damper system. This may be the hardest-working foam person in motorsport.
The 181–185 mm (7.1–7.3 in) wheelbase is joined by a 203–207 mm (8.0–8.1 in) front track and 222–232 mm (8.7–9.1 in) rear track. Fully equipped, it weighs around 900 g (2 lb).
This is a rolling chassis, so the 540-size motor, micro servo, radio system, ESC, gears, cooling fan, and 1S or 2S shorty LiPo are extra. Pre-trued foam tires are included, along with your choice of seven fairing colors.
The K6 costs AU$565 (about US$370). Not cheap. Seriously, actual karting may now be the cheaper hobby. Well, unless go-karting is not available where you live. In that case, this could be a great option.
