Areaware STRiDA LT foldable bike breaks the geometry barrier

Areaware STRiDA LT foldable bike 544px

this odd looking bike is designed by Mark Sanders. strange as it is, it certainly grabbed my attention in an instant. this design enables the rider to sit upright, thus giving the rider a good view of the road ahead. seriously, i haven’t seen anything bicycle in such a triangular form. the frame of the STRiDA LT is of lightweight aluminum, while a single speed power is transferred to the rear wheel via a silent greaseless Kevlar belt. so you don’t need but a Harley to have ‘belt drive’ on your two-wheeler. stopping power is in the form cable disc brakes, again, something which you don’t often see on folding bikes. new old vintage of the week: 2010 Vespa GTS

Vespa GTS 250 Super 544px

there’s just something about retro these days. the more technologically advanced we are today, the more we want a piece from yesteryear. so we redesign the vintage into a new product, throwing in the modern day livery. Vespa is a good example. of course, nothing beats a real vintage but being a real vintage could mean high maintenance, and not mention it is definitely not environmentally friendly. remember those coal-burning steam cars? those were definitely a big no-no in today’s context. Vespa has a history that dated back to 1946, and have since garnered quite a cult following. i still like the original vintage, despite being a potential target for the environmentalists. so let’s hit on the retro note, grab a Diana Mini lomo camera, an iPhone 4 with the retro iTape Deck case and hit the road on a Vespa. attire is entirely up to you. DTV Shredder – All-Terrain stand-up vehicle

BPG-Werks DTV Shredder - Jumps 544px(photo source: bpg-werks.com)
a tough, rugged answer to Segway. this mean looking stand-up ride can zip through any terrain at a top speed of 50km/h, including snow. pretty menacing speed, considering you will be standing up. DTV stands for Dual Track Vehicle, developed by BPG Werks. Powered by 200cc four-stroke Honda engine, the DTV Shredder can hit 30 mph and climbs a 40-degree slope. not something very environmentally-friendly, though. the DTV Shredder has wide applications including military and recreational. who knows it might just spawn a new sporting category as well. judging from the official video, it looks like it can controlled remotely and also has the ability to tow. excellent for medic-evac and towing of heavy equipment. i wonder what’s the noise level like? it has got to be somewhat quiet for military operations, don’t you think so? you know? i really want one of this badly! Ferrari-themed trike based on Suzuki Hayabusa

i love this conversion. i am not rider myself but the power of Hayabusa has always mesmerized me. so why do i like this so much? i am paranoid about 2 wheelers. being thrown off a bicycle twice in my life time, and ended up in a rather dire situation, 2 wheelers is a nightmare. here comes a dream bike, but in a trike form. what makes this even more alluring is it’s Ferrari-themed, right down to its decals. according to Japanprobe.com, its creator was contacted by Ferrari after they saw the video of his creation, but it is ok if is a one-off fan-only vehicle and he can’t produce sell the clones. so this is really one-of-the-kind. we can only drool over it. to me, Wunderlich is to BMW bike as RUF is to Porsche cars. this latest conversion kit from the German bike tuner for the S 1000 RR is named “Piranha”, and it sure looks like one. the “Piranha” kit is the creation of Wunderlich’s very own in-house designer, Nicolas Petite. highlights include handlebar conversion, single-bulb XENON headlamp, “RR-Vario” footrest assembly, light race hump, adjustable number plate mount and indicators with built-in rear/brake light functions, lighter PVM 6 spoke high-performance wheels, SBK sports exhaust system, performance controller, MotoMaster brake discs, Ohlins chassis and steering dampers (tuned by Wunderlich’s racing rider, Frank “Fritz” Spenner) etc. as you have read, enhancement is not limited to aesthetic, but also with improvement to the handling and performance departments. seriously, i am astounded by it’s beauty. aren’t you? TiroGage – tire gauges that stays at your wheels

TiroGage(photo source: tirogage.indedev.net)

for the truckers out there, how many times have you forgotten to check your tires pressure and ended with flats in the middle of a highway? until you have self-inflating tires on your trucks, keeping the tires pressure in check is essential. besides it’s a good habit to keep the pressure in check, cos’ the right pressure gives you optimum mileage. though i am not a trucker myself, i would think it is a hassle to pop by a gas station to do the check or even, whipping out a portable gauge to do the job. now this particular gadget makes this chores a little bit easier. affixed directly air valves, the tirogage lets driver check the air pressure at a glance and getting in/out the air is via the tirogage as well. pretty new. it would be lovely if i can use these on cars.

Non-contact charging for electric vehicles demonstrated by Nissan

Nissan Contact-less Charging showcased in CEATEC 2010 544px(photo source: CEATEC.com)

the idea of contact-less or non-contact charging is not new, and has been talked about since 1998. demonstrated as part of Nissan ‘Future’ technologies in the recent CEATEC Japan 2010, Nissan depicts their vision via the solar tree and Eporo robot cars. the demo, Eporo robot cars moved through a course around the solar tree, when the Eporo robot car runs out of power, it changes its course to enter into the non-contact charging lane and returns to normal lane when recharging is completed. well, i sure do hope this technology will come true.
