and you thought the DeLorean, along with the iconic DMC-12 were dead but it looks like it will be given a jolt of live in the form of an electric vehicle and it will be an all-electric vehicle, nothing less. at least that’s what the news says for now, until flux capacitor becomes a reality. oh, in case you are wondering, time travel is not included in the package. this retro beauty, that doesn’t even look a wee bit retro till today, will resurface in the 21st century in an all-electric guise and the company, Delorean Motor Company of Texas, is certainly serious about it. the all-electric DeLorean debuted at last week’s DMC Texas Open House Event.

detail specifications are scant at this moment but what we do know is that the electric DeLorean will be capable of 125 mph (201 km/h) top speed from its 260 horses electric motor. though it is still early to be specific about its pricing but according to Autoblog, this EV will likely to cost between $90,000 to $100,000. pretty hefty price for an EV in today’s context but what the hell, if they retain the aesthetic of the original DMC-12, i’d say this vehicle will be priceless. DMC is teaming up with electric car startup EPIC EV to, hopefully, bring the all-electric DMC-12 into production by 2013. so that gives you about a year plus to start saving up for it. a few more official images are available after the break.
