Projectors have come a long way. They can now almost replace TVs, even having remotes like a TV. But Honor has taken things to another level with the Honor Choice Yingfeng AI Projector Air. In case anyone is curious, “Ying” means firefly in Chinese, while “Feng” means bee. Surprise, surprise, the combination has no specific meaning beyond branding for this line.

Anyhoo, the projector leverages AI for some of its standout features. Most notably, there is the AI over-the-air pointing remote. While most projectors use TV-style remotes, the Honor Choice Yingfeng AI Projector Air [CH] uses AI to enable a remote that works more like a laser pointer. Whatever you want to trigger, just point and click—kind of like an air mouse. It even doubles as a Switch-like controller, perfect for playing Fruit Ninja-style games.
Speaking of AI, there is also the AI touch projection feature. Using the companion pen, you can literally draw on the projected image, turning the AI Projector Air into a giant tablet.
Another notable feature is its brightness rating of 280 CVIA. It is not measured in ANSI lumens, which are often more loosely quoted. CVIA stands for China Video Industry Association, a standard designed to reduce inflated or misleading brightness claims under stricter testing conditions. One CVIA is roughly equivalent to 0.8–0.9 ANSI lumens, meaning the advertised 280 CVIA translates to about 220–259 ANSI lumens. That places it in the low-to-mid brightness range, best suited for dim or dark rooms.

For 599 yuan [CH] (about US$87), you also get 1080p resolution, 32 GB internal storage, a Hisilicon quad-core projector chip, and a sleek design offering 160° adjustment. Yes, you can even project onto the ceiling and lie down while watching your favorite content.
It features a 2,500:1 contrast ratio, a four-element low-light-loss lanthanide glass lens, Wi-Fi 6, HDMI low-latency connectivity, Bluetooth 5.0, a USB port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The AI image calibration system includes automatic keystone correction, autofocus, obstacle avoidance, and automatic screen alignment.
Designed to be portable, it weighs just 1.22 kg (2.69 lbs) and folds down to 55 mm (2.17 inches) thin. It is an LCD projector, which explains its affordability. It is not the most powerful projector out there, but given the asking price, it is a compelling option. For now, however, it appears to be limited to the Chinese market.
