RC cars are cool, but (there’s always a ‘but’) they tend to be big, loud, and require enough open space to make your neighbors question your life choices. But what if the RC itch hits you mid-Zoom call or during a rainy-day slump at home? Enter the HPI Racing 1:64 Scale RC Car—officially known as the Nano Table Top Racer 1969 Ford Mustang RTR-X, and unofficially known as your new favorite desk distraction. This isn’t some cutesy toy you’d find in a cereal box—it’s a palm-sized beast with real attitude.

The HPI Racing Nano Table Top Racer 1969 Ford Mustang RTR-X may be just 70 mm (2.75 in) long and tip the scales at a mere 22 grams (0.78 oz), but this thing has more attitude than your coworker’s lifted pickup. Built on a custom in-house chassis and rocking a factory-painted hard shell of Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s 1969 Mustang RTR-X, the Nano-TTR is tiny trouble on four wheels. And yes, it’s fully drivable with a four-channel 2.4GHz MTX-400 transmitter—complete with real steering, LED headlights, brake lights, and turn signals you can toggle right from the controller.
With pre-mounted treaded SPEC-GRIP tires on green WORK MEISTER S1 replica wheels, it grips surprisingly well for something you can lose on your couch. The rechargeable 58mAh LiPo battery gives you a solid 45 minutes of tabletop drifting before it flashes its hazard lights to let you know it’s nap time. Charging is done via USB-C, of course. It’s 2025, after all.
Other spec-sheet details include a 42 mm (1.65 in) wheelbase, 32 mm (1.26 in) width, and 22 mm (0.87 in) height. Oh, and it even fits into HPI’s MYhpi garage so you can nerd out over manuals and tuning tips like a proper desk racer.
Available now for pre-order in the US at HobbyTown and Jadlam. As for the price, it has to be the most affordable HPI Racing RC car yet. It’s listed at £59.95 in the UK, so expect something in the neighborhood of US$75 (though HobbyTown seems to beg to differ). Be warned: this thing might just get sucked into the rabbit hole of RC cars.
