Everyone else is trying to make earbud charging cases as compact as possible. Apparently, Huawei is not part of “everyone else.” Why? Well, just look at what it has done for the FreeClip 2 Collector’s Edition. It is practically a spherical jewelry box.
Measuring 37.4 × 48.6 × 48.9 mm (1.47 × 1.91 × 1.93 inches), the glossy case is nearly as deep as it is wide. Huawei even increased the internal space by 20 percent over the regular FreeClip 2 case. Pocket-friendly? Debatable. Dramatic when opened? Absolutely. A fair warning to dudes, though: do not kneel and open this case in front of a girl. You may be sending the wrong signal!
The earbuds retain Huawei’s open-ear C-bridge design, clipping around the ear instead of plugging the ear canal. Each weighs 5.1 g and uses skin-friendly liquid silicone with memory metal. A 10.8 mm dual-diaphragm driver handles the audio, accompanied by adaptive volume, vocal enhancement, directional sound, and a three-microphone call noise-reduction system.
Controls include tapping, swiping, nodding, and shaking your head. A configurable AI button summons Huawei’s Xiaoyi assistant, records spoken notes, or accesses third-party assistants on iOS and Android. Translation, spatial audio, automatic left-right channel recognition, multi-device connectivity, and NearLink precision finding are also included.
The earbuds carry an IP57 rating, while the enormous little jewelry box gets IP54 protection. Battery life reaches nine hours from the earbuds and 38 hours with the case; 10 minutes of charging provides three hours of playback.
Available in Starry Sea Blue and Pearlescent Silver, the Huawei FreeClip 2 Collector’s Edition is priced from 1,499 yuan [CH] (about US$222) in China.
