NEC may have stepped back from business-to-consumer hardware to focus on business-to-business operations, but it is not entirely out of the B2C game, possibly because hardware like a tablet could be a business device, too. And so, yes, NEC has a new tablet. Folks, meet the NEC LAVIE Tab T12N (Late 2026).

Interestingly, NEC already introduced the LAVIE Tab T12 earlier this year. The new T12N takes a slightly different approach, offering a more productivity-focused package with a digital pen and keyboard cover included as standard. No shopping for those accessories separately.
The tablet rocks a 12.1-inch 2.5K (2,560 × 1,600 pixels) LCD with a 90 Hz refresh rate and up to 800 nits of peak brightness. There are also four speakers with Dolby Atmos support, making it equally suitable for watching movies when the work is done.
Under the hood is a MediaTek Dimensity 6400 octa-core processor, paired with 8 GB LPDDR4X RAM, 256 GB expandable storage, and Android 16. Other essentials include Wi-Fi 5, an 8 MP front camera with face recognition, a 13 MP rear camera, and a 10,200 mAh battery promising up to 12 hours of video playback.

Despite its generous display, the tablet measures just 6.3 mm (0.25 inches) thick and weighs approximately 530 g (1.17 lbs). With the keyboard and pen, however, that weight increases to around 929 g (2.05 lbs).
Speaking of the accessories, the included keyboard doubles as a stand cover with a dedicated pen holder. The pen works with the preinstalled Nebo app for handwritten notes, text recognition, and PDF annotations.
There’s also Circle to Search and NEC’s Tsunagaru! LAVIE feature, which lets the tablet work as a second monitor for a compatible PC.
The NEC LAVIE Tab T12N (Late 2026) was announced in Japan on October 27, 2026, and released on October 29, starting at 99,880 yen [JP] with tax in Japan.
