Celebrating the premiere of the latest Kung Fu Panda animated feature film, Kung Fu Panda 4, Chinese brick-built toymaker Pantasy has released a new Kung Fu Panda building set. The Pantasy x Kung Fu Panda Dragon Warrior (86509) set now joins the growing Pantasy x Kung Fu Panda portfolio that includes Dragon Warrior Spring Festival Special Edition, the various adorable brick-built characters and “cosrider” collection, and the Mini Street View series.
The Pantasy x Kung Fu Panda Dragon Warrior (86509) [CH] uses 1,269 pieces to recreate Po, the Dragon Warrior, complete with a cape, a brick-built hat, and wait for it, brick-built pants with the iconic red and yellow waistband! LoL! Lovely! The set is further enhanced by a “bagua” orb with a light-up feature and a buildable diorama.
The diorama is based on the kung fu training ground in the Valley of Peace, complete with the majestic gate, the iconic cherry blossoms tree, a rock cliff with a waterfall, lanterns, plus a few fun features including a gong, a training roly-poly on spring to recreate the roly-poly effect, and a mechanism for banging the drum.
Oh, did we mention that dear brick-built Po here gets an interchangeable face? That’s right. These Chinese building set makers are blurring the line between action figures and brick-built sets. Needless to say, this set includes quite a number of specially molded parts, which include the said interchangeable faces.
Rounding up the set is a plaque that says “Kung Fu Panda” in Chinese. So, yeah, I think this is destined for the China market for now. That said, Pantasy has yet to list it on its Chinese web store but we saw toy retailers listing the set for around 200 RMB (about US$28). Meanwhile, for fans who really want some brick-built Kung Fu Panda actions, you may check out Pantasy’s international web store for the currently available sets.
