Finding a pistol that fits your hand sounds simple enough. Then you discover that the model you like doesn’t quite agree with your fingers. SIG SAUER’s new P385 puts adjustability high on its list, alongside a fresh approach to managing recoil.
Unveiled at the brand’s SIG NEXT event, the P385 is a new 9mm striker-fired pistol developed from the ground up. Its MAGSTRAP grip module allows customization for both grip length and hand size while remaining compatible with standard P320 magazines. That’s a more useful starting point than expecting everyone to have the same hands.

Underneath is a new fire control unit, paired with SIG’s new Trigger Block, which the company says provides a smooth, clean trigger press. A precision-cut carbon steel barrel, low bore axis, and SIG Recoil Dampening System round out the main hardware changes.
SIG claims at least a 20 percent reduction in muzzle rise across the baseline lineup, with compensated models like the P385-MACH3D pushing that claim past 30 percent. Mind you, that’s the manufacturer’s claim, rather than something we’ve put to the test.
The lineup includes P385-MACH3D, P385-COMP, P385-FULL, P385-CARRY, and P385-COMPACT. All five feature Nitron SIG-LOC PRO optic-ready cuts, feature fully ambidextrous controls, and offer an optional manual thumb safety. Color choices are black and coyote brown.
The P385 family is scheduled to reach stores during fall and early winter 2026, with pricing starting at approximately US$599. The announcement doesn’t provide full dimensions or weights, so the finer details will have to wait.
For now, SIG has given us five names to keep straight—and a grip designed to accommodate the hands doing the holding.
