Ikea Designers Live In Mars Simulator For Design Inspiration

When designers are cracking their brains for space-saving furniture, they probably need not look further than typical urban tiny spaces. But as it turns out, tiny spaces aren’t enough for Ikea. The Swedish furniture giant has sent some of the company’s designers to live inside the Mars simulator, so they’d have the first hand understanding of space constrain (pun not intended). Ikea Teamed Up With Off-White On A Fresh Take Of The Iconic Frakta Bag

I am sure you remember the hilarity that ensue after Balenciaga pulled off an upmarket and obviously, very pricey, knockoff of Ikea’s iconic blue Frakta. Up to today, we are not quite sure if it was intentional, but based on one previous design, we are not at all surprise if it was an intentional copycat. We do not know if Ikea did take legal action, but it sure did poke fun at the French luxury fashion house’s tote bag and it was nothing short of hilarious. Don’t you just love Ikea’s sense of humor? Shortly after, the Internet joined in the fun with a bunch of iconic blue tote bag-based creative creations. I am sure those are purely for fun because some of them, though managed to put a smile our faces, looks rather comfortable to be use, or wear. Marche Turned Photoshopped Ikea Yeezy Sneakers Into Reality

Thanks to Balenciaga $2,144 interpretation of Ikea’s 99 cents Frakta tote bag, Ikea is having quite a lot of attention of late and the Internet, had some fun too, including a mega shoe lover, Instagram user Brucehatoo. Riding on the Ikea hype, Brucehatoo came up with the idea of photoshopping a pair of Yeezy sneakers into Ikea Frakta-inspired kicks which he then posted on his Instagram account to much rave reception. In fact, I saw came across Bruce’s ‘creation’ a few days ago and was wondering to myself, what if Ikea really collaborate with Adidas? Wouldn’t it be cool? Usually, when we talk about knock-off, the non-original product (or sometime, idea) is of something poorly made and cheaply priced, but that’s not what happen in the case of Balenciaga’s $2,145 Arena Extra-Large Shopper Tote Bag. How Ikea Solved The Challenge Of Assembly With A New Joint System

Swedish furniture maker Ikea made flat-pack a thing and in the process, made Swedish meatballs great again, but as any Ikea users will tell you, while the meatballs are sweet, the struggle of putting together a flatpack furniture is very real. Ikea Made A Table That Compels Diners To Interact In The Old Fashion Way

Social media is a modern day invention that aims to keep people connected, but mankind’s obsessive nature has turn it into one of the world’s greatest irony. The more we are connected, the more disconnected we are – thanks in part to the handy, ‘super computer’ – the smartphone. Apart from basic voice communication, smartphone allows access to social media services wherever, whenever and this result in folks interacting with their mobile devices more than they do with actual people sitting right next to them on a dining table. So, how do you get people to interact in the old fashion way when dining? Well, for Ikea Taiwan, it is to create a dining table that will compel diners to focus on the food and real interaction instead of taking selfie or composing Instagram-worthy foodfie, or checking out Facebook or Twitter every other minute.
