TECNO is not all about concepts at last week’s MWC. It also has a phone that money can buy. Obviously, the new generation of the brand’s mid-ranger, CAMON, isn’t going to blow your mind with modularity or a color-changing back cover. But the new TECNO CAMON 50 Series does have an industry first: AI Auto Zoom.
The CAMON 50 Series includes the CAMON 50 Ultra 5G, CAMON 50 Pro, and CAMON 50, and the focus this time is clearly on imaging. TECNO is blending upgraded camera hardware with practical AI tools designed to make everyday photography a little smarter.
Leading the lineup is the CAMON 50 Ultra 5G, featuring a 50 MP Sony LYTIA 700C Ultra Night Camera designed to deliver clear images even in challenging low-light situations. The Ultra 5G and Pro models also feature a 50 MP 3X telephoto camera with a 70 mm portrait focal length, making it well suited for flattering portraits and tighter framing from afar. The system also supports AI 60X SuperZoom for capturing distant subjects.
Backing the hardware is AI RAW 2.0, TECNO’s imaging engine that processes light and detail for balanced exposure and sharp results. The camera system also introduces Super-Zoom FlashSnap, which combines high-speed capture with telephoto capability to freeze fast-moving action. Then there is the headline feature, AI Auto Zoom, which intelligently detects subjects and crops the frame for a better composition before the image even lands in your gallery.
Performance numbers look promising. The CAMON 50 Ultra 5G scored 146 overall on DXOMARK, along with a portrait score of 142, placing it among the top-performing smartphones under US$600.
TECNO is also leaning into everyday AI features. The AI Art Gallery, powered by the Dream Scape model, turns regular photos into stylized artwork inspired by global art styles and cultural themes. Other creative tools include AI Image-to-Video Generator, Live Photo, and AI 3D PhotoSpace, which adds spatial depth to images.
Beyond photography, a dedicated AI Key provides quick access to tools such as One-Tap FlashMemo for summarizing articles, AI Writing 2.0 for refining text, and an AI Health Assistant. The upgraded Ella AI assistant can also function as an oral practice partner and a general problem-solving tutor.
All models in the series feature a 1.5K 144 Hz AMOLED display. The flagship Ultra 5G runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate processor. Durability is also a highlight, with IP68, IP69, and IP69K dust and water resistance, paired with a battery of up to 6500 mAh and 45 W Super Charge.
TECNO also introduced TGuard, its security ecosystem featuring off-grid search technology capable of locating a device even without a SIM card or when the battery is completely depleted. The phones also support FreeLink, enabling network-free calling and messaging through Bluetooth long-range communication.
Pricing for the TECNO CAMON 50 Series was to be announced.
