If you are into assault rifles or have served in the military in combat roles, you’d be familiar with tracer rounds. It is usually loaded every fifth round to help gunners or snipers to enable them to see where the shots are headed during the night. It is not perfect, though. Tracer rounds expose a gunner or sniper’s position, plus it is only useful at night. But one company wants to dispense with the use of tracer rounds, while still allowing gunners and snipers to see clear where the rounds are landing.
Enter the ThermoSight HISS-HD Thermal Sniper Scope by enhancing perception and awareness technologies developer Teledyne FLIR. Revealed at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas last month, the ThermoSight HISS-HD Thermal Sniper Scope affords gunners and snipers to observe bullets in flight day or night up to 2,200 m (1.3 miles).
This lightweight (4.6 lbs/2.1 kg) and high-performance thermal sight mounts easily on any MIL-STD-1913 rail and works with various scopes and weapons, providing high-definition imagery for snipers and machine gun crews. It’s touted for its versatility and ability to operate in any environment, making it ideal for long-range sniping, reconnaissance, force protection, surveillance, and forward observation.
The HISS-HD also features an optional remote-control pendant for enhanced shooting stability and remote observation, offering shooters significant advantages in various operational scenarios.
