If Halo’s Master Chief aka John-117 were ever to drive a pickup truck, the 2015 Ford F-150 ‘Sandcat’ Halo 5: Guardians Edition would be the truck of choice. Make sense isn’t it? Cos’ the F-150’s off-road capability will probably find the brutal terrains of the Halo world right at home. Ford calls upon the expertise of Galpin Auto Sports to realized this Halo’s United Nations Space Command-inspired truck which was put on display at the E3 2015 (June 16 – 18, to be precise) earlier this month to mark the release of the Halo 5: Guardians for Xbox One.
The Halo Sandcat, codename M552, started life as a 2015 Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew 4×4 that’s powered by Ford’s 3.5L EcoBoost motor and outfitted with FX4 off-road package as standard. Galpin Auto Sports transforms it into a Sandcat by throwing in a slew of modifications to suit the image and use by the UNSC, starting with Addictive Desert Designs’ Baja XTR off-road conversion kit, which boasts custom FOX Racing shocks, Deaver leaf springs, a Currie full floater rear axle, ADD fenders, side steps, a chase rack and 17-inch wheels with mandatory off-road tires. The exterior effort is rounded up with a full custom Halo body wrap for the added militaristic style befitting the UNSC.
On the inside, Master Chief, assuming he’s commandeer the vehicle, can chill out to a game of Halo 5 while enrolee to his mission, thanks to the Xbox One custom gaming system with displays mounted in the rear head restraints. Though, we didn’t think he like being driven. He’s, well, more of a hands on person, if you know what I mean. As mentioned, the 2015 Ford F-150 Halo Sandcat was showcased at the E3 earlier this month and will also be strutting its stuff at several public events leading up to the launch of Halo 5: Guardians in October 27, 2015.
